Overview
Join the Irish Whiskey Experiences team for a once in a lifetime tasting experience with The Spot Whiskeys underneath the streets of Dublin.
Hosted by Jonathan & his son Robert Mitchell, 6th & 7th generation of the Mitchell Family, one of Ireland’s last remaining Wine Merchants & Whiskey Bonders, where the Spot Whiskeys find their roots.
After a group dinner in the award-winning Searson’s Bar, we’ll be going underneath the busy streets of Dublin City into the network of cellars where the Spot Whiskeys once aged, for an exclusive, private tasting with Jonathan & Robert, as they delve deep into their family history, stretching back to 1805, while we sip on a few exceptional pot still whiskeys.
The Mitchell family would have sent empty sherry, port & wine casks to the Jameson Distillery on Bow St where they were filled with spirit, then returned to be matured in the very cellars we’ll be standing in, marked with a daub or ‘Spot’ of paint to signify their age potential, Blue for 7yrs, Green for 10yrs, Yellow for 12yrs & Red for 15yrs, which is where their name derives from.
After our tasting in the cellars we’ll make our way to the Vaults, the new Mitchell & Son store for a look at the old archives, including advertising material & old Green Spot labels, as well as the new & impressive Spot Whiskey display, while enjoying private shopping in the store too.
